A humming corner of Chinatown filled with the tempting smell of modern American food and the clink of cocktail glasses.

With its exposed bricks, sophisticated paintwork and striking colony of taxidermy creatures, Mamie Taylor’s wouldn’t look out of place in downtown New York, although the use of quality local ingredients grounds it firmly in Vancouver.

Menus revolve around punchy flavours and contrasting textures. Start with smaller plates such as cornbread and biscuits, decadent ham grenades and shrimp and grits, before moving on to the main event. Whether you opt for a juicy cheeseburger or fried chicken with a lick of spicy honey, the portions are generous and presentation on point.

There’s an excellent choice of bourbon-based cocktails to wash it all down and plenty of American wines on the list, as well as some Old World classics.

It’s the perfect recipe for an all-Amerian night out to savour!

I love this place! A go-to favourite of mine in Vancouver. Food, service, cocktails and ambiance are spot on at Mamie Taylors!

Great experience! Our group of four really enjoyed the food and the service was really attentive and quick. The pork chop was cooked just right and appies were super tasty (try the scotch egg). Would definitely return.

The best chicken n waffles in town! Juicy, well-seasoned, and a great deal for an extra piece at $7. Comes with a side of gravy that is tasty, but not necessary since the chicken is so good on its own.

Love the Southern comfort food, served up in a quirky, trendy space. The staff were excellent with my two young kids, providing them a bucket of toys to keep them entertained.

The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the baked Alaska dessert. I'd definitely return for another visit though!

It was our first time at Mamie Taylor’s and we enjoyed it very much. Very nice cocktail list although they are more than happy to make bespoke cocktails too. Food & service were also great. The only negative was the seating — all their tables are high top benches and bar stools and they just weren’t very comfortable.

From the food to the service everything was great at Mamie Taylors. We especially loved the spicy margaritas and chicken and waffles!
