Cuisine: Latin American, Tapas/Small Plates
Price Point: Mains from $15 - $25
Ranked: #6 of 21 restaurants in Vancouver

A fiery Latin American restaurant with plenty of attitude!

Inside, moody lighting and industrial-chic touches make this one ideal for dates, although a large communal table running down the middle is fun for groups too.

The food is a vibrant, flavourful romp through Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia and beyond.

Think tacos, dips, ceviche, blistered chilis, mini steak bavette and wild sea prawns. A small-plates format means that every meal here is a gastronomic adventure that will leave your tastebuds reeling.

Naturally, the margaritas and pisco sours are free-flowing and there’s also a decent selection of local craft beer.

If you’re heading Downtown, Cuchillo is a safe bet for great food and buzzy vibes!

Our meal at Cuchillo was honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life, if not the very best! The ambience of the restaurant is amazing, with mosaic skulls and lit brick walls, as well as candles to give it a cozy feel. It was happy hour when we were there, so margaritas were on special and were delicious. All of the food is obviously delicately designed and made with care. It was the perfect combination of Latin American classics with a Canadian west coast flare. We got two appetizers (Yuca Frita and Frye Bread), a main (Pork Belly), tacos (BC Angus), and the dessert, which was probably more than enough for two people but we were very glad we got to try a bit of everything. The service was fantastic and the waitstaff were all lovely to talk to. I will definitely recommend Cuchillo to friends and would highly, highly recommend you give it a go!

Food was awesome, even the vegetarian option was enjoyed by the meat eaters. We tried the wild mexican sea prawns, the pork belly, some tacos and ceviche. Hard to pick a favourite. Dessert came highly recommended and was definitely worth it. Our server was attentive and knew the menu well to make accommodations for some allergies. Overall a great experience!

Wow! Everything was amazing. The Servers were very attentive and great at recommending dishes and drinks. The Brussel Sprouts stood out as one of the best dishes and my favourite drink was the Mexican Firing Squad Cocktail. The very best thing about the whole meal was the dessert, there's only one on the menu because that's all they need. Mine and my partners rule is that on a First Table you have to at least share a dessert but this was out of this world and even though I was full I could have made space for more. I can't wait to go back!

First time at this restaurant. The four of us enjoyed everything we ordered especially the scallops ceviche. Will definitely recommend this place to our friends. Thank you.

Our experience at Cuchillo was amazing. From the food to the service everything was top notch. Cuchillo is a hidden gem in Gastown and definitely a must if you are looking for quality food. If you love tequila make sure to get the tequila & verdita! Not our first visit and definitely not our last. Being able to watch the chefs cook from your table is a definite plus.

Overall we had a great experience. Had a 5:00 reservation, there was a large party which was starting to arrive at the same time so it took sometime to get out drink and food order. Our appetizers came very quickly, but there was a mix up with or main order. The staff couldn’t have handled it better though, being honest with us about why it was taking so long. They ended up giving us a free dessert. Will definitely return as the tacos are delicious! Also getting 50% off the food bill was amazing. Well worth the reservation fee.

Upon arrival we asked to be seated at a different table where the server was going to seat us. Was not a problem at all. The menus arrived promptly and questions about the wine list and menu were answered thoroughly. We ordered the “blistered green chilies,” “housemade chorizo verde Scotch egg,” “roasted Brussel sprouts,” and two types of tacos: pulled pork and tuna. Every dish was excellent: presentation, quality, amount of food. There were just the two of us and we probably should have only ordered one taco. More than enough. There was only one very small hitch and that was when the bill arrived without the 50% of the food. However, this was rectified without any hesitation. Great experience overall. Go!!

We came to celebrate my partner's birthday and had a great time. The server was friendly, happy hour margaritas were awesome, and the food was delicious. The queso saganaki taco was especially delicious. The wild boar sausage with paella was a bit too salty, but overall, the food was great. The atmosphere was nice; it's a big space, but its kind of dark, so it still feels cozy. It also wasn't too loud so it was perfect for having a good conversation. I would definitely recommend Cuchillo, especially with the First Table deal.

We loved the experience. Delicious Food, lots of interesting choices and flavours.
Really cool atmosphere and the service was very good, prompt and efficient.
Dessert of the day was a really unusual and delicious version of a cheesecake - fabulous. Will definitely go back again.

Loved our dinner at Cuchillo. We thought the fry bread, cauliflower, scotch egg and cocktails were especially tasty.

Food was amazing. I agree with what the other reviewers said. Definitely one of the best dinner experiences I had in a long time. I am still thinking about the skirt steak taco and the fried bread. Mmm

The food was absolutely amazing here, we loved it so much! The atmosphere is so cozy and relaxed, and service was 10/10. Has now become of our favourite places to eat in Vancouver. Genuinely could not find a single fault if I tried. The Local Pork Belly Confit is an absolute must try!

My friends and I decided to try Cuchillo and it was fantastic! The food, the service, the ambience...everything was amazing!! Was great to be there for Happy Hour too, they have awesome deals on drinks which we used to our advantage! We will 100% be back!
Also super excited to try all the other restaurants that are part of this awesome service!!
