Can’t believe that we have not been here before, when you walk in you are transported to a different part of the world with their decor, it is absolutely stunning. The spices they use are extremely well balanced, the server was very friendly and knowledgeable he explained to us that the kitchen is completely family run and they want to keep traditional authentic food. We would definitely recommend anyone that is looking for authentic balanced spicy food to stop by silk lounge for an amazing experience.

First time trying first table, and we tried the Silk Lounge in gastown. To be absolutely honest, I never knew this restaurant existed until I saw it on first table. The location is off the main walkways and I almost would have walked passed it had I not known in Google maps that it was there. But going in was like being teleported to India. The decor, lights, and ambiance is like no other, it was definitely very cool.
Food was delicious - everything was made from scratch, the butter chicken you can taste fresh tomatoes in there (I didn't even realize tomatoes were a typical ingredient in butter chicken until yesterday), and the Biryani was heavenly. Their drinks were also good - my husband's an avid old fashioned drinker and the black barrel old fashioned was a tinge sweeter than his usual but delicious. Prices for drinks were very good considering downtown. Service was good, our water was always filled and the manager even came to scoop Biryani into our plates. Overall, a great experience. There's a lounge area that looks perfect for gathering with a group of friends for a drink or two, or otherwise we thought it was also a great date spot to take your date.

The Silk Lounge was breathtakingly stunning! As a designer I was impressed. The atmosphere was very pleasant and it was obvious how much work went into making the space so beautiful.

Our food was delicious and tasted very fresh. The owner/chef, Gary, also made it a point to introduce himself and ask us how we were enjoying our food which we appreciated. If you want to treat yourself to a fun experience this is the place to go.

Silk Lounge was amazing from start to finish! We had comfy lounge style seats right near the kitchen which emitted an amazing smell and looks as clean as can be. The food was extraordinary, atmosphere splendid and the service top notch! The dish of the night was definitely the Paneer Tikka and each cocktail absolutely delicious! Silk Lounge is a must try and we'll 110% be back!

Had a wonderful experience at Silk Dinner Lounge. Took my girlfriend out for a date and we were blown away by the incredible decor of this place! The food was great and the presentation was very exciting to look at.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for a one of a kind dining experience and if you ever want to launch a product or do a fashion show, then reach out to the owner and he’d be happy to host you and your event.

Our first time using FirstTable and It was a great experience.

We shared 5 dishes among the party of 4 including the butter chicken and vindaloo which were my favourites, but it was all absolutely delicious.

Cocktails were also good and the service was friendly and quick. Highly recommend Silk.

Incredible dining experience. Silk Lounge is an oasis of bliss from the moment you approach the door from the street. You are then transported into another world once you pass the threshold. The decor is beyond perfect, every detail in place with great intention. I took pictures of everything! The selection of food and drink is outstanding, including a wide range of vegan and vegetarian dishes, and mostly organic, locally sourced.
I really can't say enough about the quality of the food, the flavours, the balance, the attention to detail and presentation. They make your meal upon order, not in batches sitting all day. Hence you might leave yourself a bit more time than other restaurants, but they have great cocktails, and really, it would be a shame to rush this kind of experience. The standout dish for us was the " Silk Butter Chicken" on fettuccine. It's WOW the moment you smell it, and just heavenly as soon as you taste it.
Top marks for atmosphere and overall experience. Will be telling friends about this place, and going back for more!

First time using Firsttable and it was great. The atmosphere of the restaurant was gorgeous! Great balance of art and objects. The food was absolutely amazing and was quite a treat to have. The presentation of the food was also very well done. Kept us excited to see when we got our next plate!
Would definitely go back again :)

When you first walk through the doors, you are just amazed with the detailed design of the restaurant. Ambiance and music makes you feel welcomed and relaxed. Waiter was very welcoming and ready make our evening enjoyable.

We were a party of four and ordered drinks to start (very well made and presented), appetizers were right on the flavours and main courses we just wanted to order more. Basil chicken, biryani and the butter chicken were definitely out of this world. If we could eat more then we would have ordered a second round.

You can see they were cooking every dish as the orders were coming in. Unfortunately we did wait longer then normal as we were the fist table in the restaurant and only during our service. But we felt relaxed with music and dimmed lighting that it did not bother us. So order all your servings from the beginning as they do take a bit of time to cook

So go and enjoy the food and indulge yourself in the restaurant and culture as we all loved the exotic flavours we experienced.

Decided to try this place based on so many positive reviews on Google, Yelp and TripAdvisor, plus so far every single restaurant I've tried on First Table had been amazing, so really looking forward to this one.

Ambience: Definitely unique. Apparently the door is 135 years old and imported from India. Inside was decorated with a bunch of Buddhist statues and stuff. Most reviews rave about how unique the decor is and stuff, but personally I was not a fan. I thought it was too dark, and I didn't think that it's a good idea for this restaurant to have an open kitchen concept. Nothing bad about it, just not a particularly pretty kitchen nor is their cooking process particularly exciting or interesting to watch. Also, I hope this is not offensive but whatever that smell is in there, it's way too strong. Not sure if it's simply a byproduct of cooking, or if it's intentionally added to the restaurant, but it's a bit too much. Smells like someone sprayed a whole bottle of cheap Chai Tea flavored perfume.

Food: I have to say I was actually quite impressed by the food. It claims to be a healthier Indian restaurant, I think it's actually true. The food is far less greasy than I expected from an Indian restaurant, and it still tasted really good. I think the food is fantastic, being a healthier version did not make their food any less tasty. I'd come here for the food alone.

Service: This was difficult to rate. We were basically one of only two tables there, but even then the servers weren't that attentive. There was one male and one female server, and both seemed super preoccupied with other stuff. They definitely can do with some employee training on being professional servers. This was something I noted that other reviewers also mentioned on other reviews, and to my surprise was proven right on my first visit. The servers were not rude, and attended to me when they noticed, but frankly, when the restaurant only has 2 tables, it's not really acceptable to NOT pay attention and make your tables struggle to catch your attention. I cannot imagine being here when the restaurant is full if the service is like this.

I can only comment on 2 out of 5 dishes that were ordered. I have recently become a Pescatarian and so I didn't eat any of the dishes that had meat in them. Also, I have an aversion to cilantro (since before I became a Pescatarian), and so I didn't eat the Prawn Biryani that was ordered, because it was covered all over with cilantro. Too many pieces of cilantro for me to try and pick them out.The grilled zucchini appetizer was good and very different. I've never seen that offered at any other Indian restaurant. The Silk Daal was very good. Even my meat eating husband, who really really loves his meat, said the Silk Daal was his favourite dish. Lovely room decor. There was a steak appetizer and a butter chicken dish. The meat eaters seemed fairly happy with it all. Our server was a bit on the timid side. The group felt she could have been a bit more assertive. She was kind and polite though, so I personally didn't have much of an issue with her. I do think though that she could have come to check on us a bit more to see if we needed any water refills...etc. It was a quiet Sunday evening and we were the only table of customers in the entire restaurant so she certainly had time to check on us. Meat eating or not...the dishes are way overpriced. I can't imagine us going back there and paying regular price. Disregarding the fancier surroundings, we've had better Indian food elsewhere for far less than what this restaurant charges. When it came time to pay the bill, for some reason the restaurant had no record of us having reserved through First Table. Thankfully, we were able to pull up my email and show them that we reserved through First Table, so they honoured the 50% discount to our bill. It was a bit disconcerting though to find that they had not received any notice on their end that we were First Table customers. Apparently, they only had a notice of our reservation from Yelp, but not from First Table. A bit of a turn off for our first experience with First Table. I certainly hope it won't happen again should we decide to make any future reservations through First Table.
