This Vancouver stalwart has offered consistently excellent bistro food, warm service and value since 1988.

Located in the historic Edward Hotel, a stone-clad building on a cobbled street in the heart of Gastown, it is as cosy as it is atmospheric.

The culinary team work with the finest local producers to bring you a true taste of British Colombia. Start with a charcuterie board, West Coast crab cakes or pork belly bites, before moving on to warming soups, flavour-filled salads and mouth-watering seasonal mains. Wild salmon with pickled blueberries is a very special dish.

The Water St. Café team have carefully curated a collection of unique wineries, bottles and varietals grown right here in British Columbia that is quite remarkable.

Like the landscape, each bottle of local wine delivers a diverse sensory experience that is as extraordinary as the province itself. Each sip is a reflection of the people that created it and the land from which it is crafted.

The Water St. Cafe never goes out of style. It’s a true Vancouver classic!

This was my third time at Water Street Cafe and it seems like it gets better every time. We celebrated my dads birthday and I love how the staff went out of their way to make him feel special. The mushroom truffle gnocchi is out of this world and must be tried! If you don’t want the full meal you can get a side dish! We also had the salmon and beef ribs which were also amazing! I would 100% recommend this place to all my friends!

We had a lovely dining experience for our date night. Water St. Cafe is a charming restaurant and Gastown is always beautiful at night. The hostess greeted us warmly and was very excited that we were using First Table. We got an excellent seat by the window which allowed us to people watch. We received a complimentary amuse-bouche which was totally unexpected which made it all the more better, and it was delicious! We started with 3 appetizers: the crispy pork belly, the crab cake, and the burrata they all tasted great and were just the right amount. Normally we wouldn't order so many items just to start but when everything is 50% we could afford to try a bit of everything! For our entree we got two types of gnocchi, the mushroom and the seafood, they were both delicious and filling. We had a wonderful evening and left smiling. Very happy with the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the full experience of eating at a restaurant the might otherwise have been expensive. Thank you First Table and Water St. Cafe!

Water St. Cafe is in such an amazing Winter setting with the Gastown Christmas lights and also the famous Steam Clock going off just opposite so it was a good start before we'd even walked in. The staff were great, they were very attentive and a few of them checked at different times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The wine list was expansive, both local wines and world wines, but also they have some house cocktails that tasted great I had the Dark n Stormy which is a must if you like Rum.
The Mushroom Gnocchi was probably the best gnocchi I've ever had so I recommend that!!
No First Table is complete without a dessert! I had the Double Chocolate Espresso Cake and I would highly recommend it. They also had some live music upstairs, I can't wait to go back.

What a great night. Food was delicious, server was friendly & helpful and ambience was nice. We were sat at a nice table by the window (thought we might be put in the back) and had a wonderful time.

What a wonderful experience. The staff and the food were exceptional. We were seated in a prime spot- looking out on the steam clock. We sampled the crab cakes and the calamari for starters and then the spicy sausage rigatoni and the chicken with gnocchi and mushrooms, for the main. Unfortunately we had no room for the deserts. First table is a great way to try out restaurants. We will certainly revisit this one.

We had an amazing date night at Water St. Cafe, despite some issues at the very beginning. They couldn't locate my reservation on their system but were still able to accommodate us. We were seated in what we found to be quite an awkward location by the stairs in the back, and when we asked if we could switch tables, they were so kind to move us to the front. The ambience and location was perfect, with a great view of the Gastown steam clock and a good selection of songs on their playlist. We ordered the West Coast Crab Cakes, Linguine Alle Vongole and Spaghetti Carbonara. Food and service was good, however my partner found the portion to be a little small as he's a big eater. For me, it was perfect! We would love to come back for live music and drinks on the second floor.

Fantastic dining experience. We were greeted immediately with warm friendliness, and our server was attentive and helpful. Ambience of the restaurant is elegant yet relaxed with large windows overlooking Gastown and the steam clock. We tried the soup of the day, humus and olives, eggplant pave and gnocchi and all were delicious.

Great experience! 40% off bottled wine Monday’s made the meal. We got the seafood spaghetti, bison carpaccio and shared platter which was more than enough. Great experience. Lights and the steam clock across really set the ambience

The burrata appetizer was delicious. The linguini vongole I ordered was perfectly al dente with lots of plump clams; excellent dish

Can't say enough positive things about this restaurant - food was amazing, service was top-notch.. By the time we were leaving, there was a massive line out the door; clearly in high demand for good reason :)

Right from the beginning, the staff at Water St Cafe were amazing. We arrived late due to terrible traffic, I had called to let them know and they said not to worry that they were holding our table. When we got there, they were so nice and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Just super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and filling, and they even started us off with a complimentary amuse-bouche. The ambiance there is the right mix of intimate and cozy. All around great experience, and then to top it off by getting 50% off our food bill--win win. Loved it and will definitely be going back. Thank you Water St Cafe!
