Ranked: #4 of 21 restaurants in Vancouver

The hottest new restaurant in town is an authentic slice of Ho Chi Minh City in slightly less humid climes. The décor is a blend of contemporary Western with all-white fittings and oriental touches such as rattan light shades and orchids.

The menu offers typical Vietnamese favourites such as pho bo, a beef carpaccio version of the classic soup dish, as well as Vietnamese takes on western staples, such as moules-frites and grilled halibut. Also included on the menu is the Saigon poutine, which brings something for the more traditional Canadian audience.

For dessert, who doesn’t love chocolate cake? But how about lemongrass-infused dark chocolate cake?!

Saigon Xua is sure to be a firm Vancouver favourite in no time, so book now to snap up a spot before everyone else does.

Siagon Xua lived up to it's advance ratings. This chic, bright and welcoming room served to set the mood for the delicious food. The papaya mango salad is a super fresh symphony of textures and tastes, the hint of oil and richness of the quail eggs balanced the dishes acidity. The sate platter was grilled with just the right amount of char and the kaffir lime dip was a brand new flavour experience, loved it on the plump prawns. I had to complement the chef on the moule frites as the best I'd had in a decade. The mussels, so often overcooked even in good restaurants were plump, buttery and of so tender in a beautiful sauce that melded french sensibilities with viet flavour profiles. Stellar. The duck breast fillet again showed cooking skill of the highest merit, perfect temperture and with the rosy interior that showcased the delicate flavour, complimented by a unique sauce. This place has style and cooking worthy of many return visits.

Wow!! The decor is amazing, it's all so nice and new but very well appointed. Everything stands out but the service was next level. We were welcomed into the restaurant by the Manager who was really friendly and really good at talking us through the menu. Most of the table picked new things that they usually wouldn't such as the Octopus, that and the khoai chiên frites were delicious. It seems that they are making new drinks and menu items each week so the whole table agreed that they cannot wait to go back. Make sure you ask them for Cocktail recommendations, they've got some special things going on there. It's a big shout for a new restaurant but I think it's fair one, this is the best Vietnamese I've ever been to!

Saigon Xua was a great choice for our first table experience!

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with modern decor. We were seated in the patio where we were very comfortable once the heaters were turned down. Despite being outside at this time of the year, the service was great and our server checked on ua frequently.

We ordered the papaya salad to start, the pho bo and the grilled snapper. The papaya salad was lovely ans fairly priced since we went during the happy hour. The pho bo was my favourite with a rich broth and thin beef cuts. My partner's favourite was the grilled snapper which was perfectly cooked and served with mushrooms and jasmine rice. We ended the night with a lemongrass-infused dark chocolate cake which had a wonderful taste.

Our experience at Saigon Xua was great. We each had a drink on top of our order and our bill was below $50. Such a great deal for a great dining experience!

Beautifully decorated restaurant. The surroundings make you feel you are in a very high end dining. Our server was very personable and attentive. The food was Vietnamese fusion and tasty. Definitely would go again.

It was definitely a good experience dining at this new 5-month old Vietnamese fusion restaurant. I would be back for sure to try the other dishes. We asked them to turn their TV on so we could watch the ‘Oscars’ while having our dinner and they did it at our request. That went beyond my expectations. Hope their business succeeds and wish them the best of luck. I hope that people can go give them a try. You won’t be disappointed:)

Unfortunately, I have to say this is my least favorite first table restaurant experience. The first thing I am a bit put off by was the requirement to purchase a beverage for each diner. This requirement was not listed amongst the details when booking. And was just displayed in the confirmation email I receive after the booking. If we have to pay a fee for booking first table already I don't feel there was a need for the restaurant to need the diners to buy a drink too. I was also very dissapointed with how they assign the seatings for people who booked through first table. It was a rainy cold day and the host advised that we had to be seated in the outdoor seatings because it was booked through first table. I expressed my discomfort she still insisted we be seated outdoor when the restaurant was clearly empty even on a Friday night. The outdoor had heater but clearly was not a comfortable setting for dinning in the rainy weather as you still really feel the draft - luckily the server was much more accomodating and offered to move us indoors. For the service I have to say the server was exceptional and attentive but the food wasn't that special for a fusion Vietnamese restaurant nor traditional to say it is a Vietnamese restaurant. The spring roll we ordered was quite tiny - I'm glad I tried this place through first table cause I wouldn't have ordered regular price for it. And the pho was luke warm...I think it was because the noodles were not cooked with broth prior to serving so it made the broth cool down and the noodles were bunched together when it arrived at our table. Presentations wise the restaurant and food looks amazing but I feel really bad to say this restaurant didn't follow through. A lot things can definitely be improved to make this restaurant great and have higher traffic.

Good atmosphere of the restaurant. Pho bo is a highly recommend dish, soup has rich umami taste. Chocolate cake amazed us with its thick texture and bitter flavor.
The restaurant asks minimum purchase of one beverage per diner which is unpleasant for me.

Once arrived we were pleasantly greeted at the front door. They hung our coats and seated us to the table. Beautiful atmosphere with cool Lighting and great music. We were actually the "first table" and initially felt very spoiled and pampered. It did take a bit to receive our drinks and a couple times was difficult to get our waiters attention for another drink, as he was busy setting up other tables and preparing for dinner service. All and all it was a great experience with super tasty food. Highly recommended!

First time using FirstTable and going to Saigon Xua. Overall a great experience.

I went with my partner and another couple. We are vegan and they are omni, there were great options for both diets. The atmosphere and decor is tastefully modern and the service staff were all very friendly and attentive.

The drinks (lychee martini was well liked) and the food (vegan apps & curry and satay and hoisin noodles) was all really good. The reason the food didn't get a 5 is due to my insanely high standards for curry :)

The only small glitches (though they were handled promptly and excellently) were that they were out of ginger beer to make their Moscow mule and the bill initially arrived arrived without the FirstTable discount.

First time at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the food and services. The food is pretty good. We ordered the appy platter, beef stew and duck confit. All three dishes are delicious.

The service was good. We were originally seated outside and when we asked for inside seats, we were accommodated.

Overall, we had a good experience.
